Mark L. Johnson, member of Northwestern's Board of Trustees, has more than 29 years of experience in financial services and is highly regarded in the industry among peers and clients. He was included in the Barron's Top 1,000 for all advisors nationwide from 2009–2013 while with Morgan Stanley, and in Barron's Top 1,200 Financial Advisors in 2016 and 2017. Johnson was recognized by Forbes as a “Best-in-State Wealth Advisor” for the state of Minnesota in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
As managing director and wealth management advisor at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Johnson continues to serve multiple generations of loyal clientele, taking great personal pride in having guided families toward their financial objectives for retirement, wealth transfer, and philanthropic giving. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
A native of Bloomington, Minnesota, Johnson has lived in Shorewood with his family since 2004. He and his wife, Patti, have been married 32 years and have three grown children. Johnson volunteers with student ministries at Wooddale Church and as a board member with Reign Ministries. In his free time, Mark enjoys hiking, fishing, and traveling.
