Rob Southcott

Rob Southcott is an experienced communications professional with a strong background in speechwriting and strategic communications. Currently serving as Rédacteur en chef at the University of Ottawa since May 2022, Rob produces speeches and messages for the President and senior executives. Prior positions include speechwriter roles at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Health Canada, and Transport Canada, where responsibilities involved crafting messaging for high-ranking officials. Additional experience includes communications strategy for the Canada Border Services Agency and Public Safety Canada, as well as advisory roles for the City of Ottawa. Rob began a career as a producer and reporter at CBC/Radio-Canada and The Westmount Examiner. Rob holds a Master of Journalism and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University.
