Ruxandra Dafinca

Brain Science Research Fellow at University of Oxford

Ruxandra Dafinca is a Brain Science Research Fellow at the University of Oxford since March 2014, leading an independent research program focused on dysfunctional pathways between mitochondria and synaptic neurotransmission in Motor Neuron Disease and Frontotemporal Dementia using induced pluripotent stem cells. Formerly, Ruxandra served as an Oxford-BMS Senior Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow, directing stem cell research in the Neurodegeneration laboratory and supervising PhD and Masters students. Ruxandra has also held positions at Wolfson College, both as a Research Fellow since May 2023 and as a Junior Research Fellow from January 2017 to April 2023. Early research experience includes internships at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research and the Centre national de la recherche scientifique. Ruxandra holds a Ph.D. in Neurobiology, an MS in Neuroscience, and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, all from prestigious institutions.
