Prasanna Liyanage is a seasoned academic with extensive experience in the field of physics. Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of Peradeniya since August 2010, Prasanna also holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Study in Physics at the Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya, since June 2020. Previous roles include Visiting Researcher at the Division for Electricity, Uppsala University under the EURECA project from April 2009 to March 2010, and Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, where administrative responsibilities included Head of the Department of Cartography, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and GIS, and Director of the Centre for Computer Studies from 2006 to 2009. Prasanna earned a Ph.D. in Physics of Electrical Discharges from the University of Colombo and Uppsala University between 1999 and 2006, following a B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics from the University of Colombo. Early education was completed at Wesley College and Kingswood College in Sri Lanka.
