Andres Leone M.D.

Andres Leone MD, FAAFP, AGSF, FAAHPM serves as the Chief of Palliative Medicine at Prisma Health since June 2018 and holds the position of Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Geriatrics at the University of South Carolina since July 2007. Previously, Andres Leone was the Medical Director of Palliative Care Services and a Geriatric Specialist at Palmetto Health until December 2022, and also contributed to the SC Academy of Family Physicians as Director of Region VII on the Board of Directors from January 2012 to December 2022. As a Mission Developer and Supply Pastor at Cristo Rey Lutheran Church - ELCA from July 2008 to December 2022, and through prior training as a Geriatric Fellow and Family Medicine Resident at Palmetto Health from 2003 to 2007, extensive expertise in palliative and geriatric care has been cultivated. Academic qualifications include an MD from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, with additional theological studies from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, and earlier medical education from institutions including Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Universidad Central del Ecuador.
