Rui Alves

Rui Alves is an experienced power systems engineer, currently serving as a Principal Power Systems Engineer at Blake Clough Consulting since April 2025, while also working as a Research Assistant and PhD Candidate at the University of Strathclyde since October 2019. Rui has a robust background in renewable energy systems, having completed a Master of Science in Electrical and Computers Engineering from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto and another Master of Science in Automation, Systems and Control from Grenoble INP - Ense3. Previous roles include a System Planning Engineer at SSE plc and a Control Engineer at Vestas, where Rui gained extensive expertise in converter control and power systems engineering. Additionally, Rui has experience as a Teaching Assistant in aerodynamics, electronics, and programming languages, and was involved in various subjects related to renewable energies during the MRes program.
