Judit Fendler

Chancellor at University of Szeged

Dr. Judit Fendler was born in Pécs, Hungary. Having studied economics at Corvinus University of Budapest (formerly: Marx Károly Közgazdaságtudományi Egyetem), she obtained her MA degree in International Relations and Finance. Additionally, she obtained her Financial Manager master’s degree at Corvinus University of Budapest and a Healthcare Manager degree at Semmelweis University. Currently, she is participating in the PhD programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), where she is also an external lecturer.

Her career started at the auditing firm Arthur Andersen & Co., and she was engaged in several international auditor trainings. Taking various managerial positions and gaining experience in acquisition and other areas of finance, such as insurance, she worked eight years for Budapest Bank. She has obtained three language certificates: speaks fluent English, and has a good command of German and Spanish.

She has been working as an advisor and leader in the sector of higher education and healthcare since 2007. She managed EU projects with a budget of billion at the University of Pécs. At the University of Szeged, she participated in the clinical consolidation programme launched in 2011. Before her appointment as Chancellor of the University of Szeged, she was the Financial and Logistics Director at the Medical Centre of the Hungarian Defence Forces, where she supervised the operations of the Healthcare Centre also in her capacity as Ministerial Commissioner.

Her special field of interest is social ethics. She is a member of the Association of Economic Managers of Health Institutions and Széll Kálmán Society.
