Darren McDonald

Acting Director, Communications at University of the Fraser Valley

Darren McDonald has a diverse work experience in the field of communications and journalism. Darren began their career in 2000 as a Reporter/Photographer for the Grand Forks Gazette. Darren then worked as an Editor for the Similkameen Spotlight from 2001 to 2003, and as an Associate Editor/Reporter for the Chilliwack Times from 2003 to 2007. In 2007, Darren McDonald started their own photography business called Redbark Photo, where they served as the Owner and Photographer until 2012. Darren then worked as an Editor for the Kootenay News Advertiser from 2009 to 2010. From 2010 to 2013, Darren McDonald served as the Editor for the Abbotsford-Mission Times. Since 2013, they have been working at the University of the Fraser Valley, initially as a Communications Specialist, then as the Associate Director of Communications, and currently as the Acting Director of Communications.

Darren McDonald attended the University of the Fraser Valley but did not complete a degree. Darren then attended Lethbridge College and obtained a degree in Print Journalism. Currently, they are pursuing a Master of Arts in Professional Communication at Royal Roads University, with an expected completion date in 2022.
