Yara Kodershah has a diverse work experience spanning multiple sectors and roles. Yara started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Alberta in 2012 and later worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Toronto - Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in 2016. In 2014, they served as a Probation Officer with the Government of Alberta before transitioning to a role as a Water Safety Instructor Trainer with the City of Edmonton in 2009, where they stayed until 2015. Yara then joined the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) in 2015 as a Communications Coordinator and See Different Facilitator, and they worked there until 2017. From 2017 to 2019, they were a Positive Spaces Initiative Bilingual Coordinator at the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI). In 2019, Yara became a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist at Girl Guides of Canada, where they worked until 2020. Currently, Yara is employed at the University of Toronto Students' Union, initially as a Manager for People & Culture from 2020 to 2022, and currently as the Director for People & Culture.
Yara Kodershah has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology and English from the University of Alberta, which they obtained between 2010 and 2015. In 2014, they also obtained certification as a Water Safety Instructor Trainer from the Canadian Red Cross. Yara went on to pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Social Justice Education at the University of Toronto from 2015 to 2016. Recently, from 2020 to 2022, they obtained a Human Resource Management Essentials Certificate from the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, specializing in Human Resources Management and Services.
