Kevin Carlberg

Kevin Carlberg serves as an Affiliate Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington, focusing on AI research in computational physics and nonlinear model reduction methods for real-time simulations. Previously, Kevin held multiple roles at Meta, including Director of AI Research Science, where leadership of a multidisciplinary team centered on developing AI for augmented and virtual reality technologies. Kevin's earlier experience encompasses significant positions at Sandia National Laboratories, where research involved creating reduced-order models for extreme-scale systems with national security implications, and at Stanford University as a research assistant, specializing in large-scale turbulent flow problems. Kevin earned a PhD and MS in Aeronautics & Astronautics from Stanford University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
