Kristi Carman

University General Counsel at University of West Georgia

Kristi Carman serves as the General Counsel at the University of West Georgia since August 2019, overseeing legal matters for an institution that supports nearly 13,000 students across multiple locations. Previously, Kristi held the position of General Counsel for the Georgia Student Finance Commission, managing legal affairs for the state’s student aid organization, which has an annual budget of approximately 1 billion dollars. Additional experience includes serving as Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Atlanta, where legal guidance was provided on civil litigation and personnel issues, and as Senior Vice President of Regulatory Excellence at Medtech, focusing on compliance and strategy for educational institutions. Kristi's legal career also includes roles as General Counsel for the Technical College System of Georgia and Supervising Counsel for the Georgia Department of Corrections. Kristi earned a J.D. cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law and holds a B.A. in Social Relations/Political Economy from Michigan State University.
