Kai Niebert serves as a Professor in the Lehrstuhl Science and Sustainability Education at the University of Zurich and is also the Director of the CAS Hochschuldidaktik since August 2014. In addition to academic responsibilities, Kai Niebert holds leadership roles across various organizations, including being a member of the advisory board for the Rat für Nachhaltige Entwicklung and chairing the board of the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt. Kai Niebert has been the president of the Deutscher Naturschutzring since 2015 and is involved with the Zukunftskommission Landwirtschaft, along with previous work for the German government on the Commission for Growth, Structural Change, and Employment. Earlier academic positions include a professorship in science education at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg and postdoctoral research at Leibniz Universität Hannover, Penn State University, and Curtin University. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences from Leibniz Universität Hannover and a Staatsexamen in Biology, Chemistry, and Political Science from the same institution.
