Cassandra Washington

Cassandra Washington is the current Chief Operating Officer at University Prep Schools. Cassandra has previous experience as the Executive Director of Human Resources for Flint Community Schools from January 2019 to February 2021. In this role, they were responsible for providing HR services and solutions to 12 school campuses and central offices with 400+ employees and more than 100 contract staff and three unions. Additionally, they led overall direction and administration of all HR and labor relations activities for the school district. Some of their notable accomplishments include developing and implementing the “Grow Your Own” guest teacher aspiring educator program, which increased recruitment and retention of employees by more than 30%, as well as developing and implementing the first “Tuition Assistance” tuition reimbursement program, which increased employee enrollment in teacher preparation programs by more than 40%. Cassandra also successfully negotiated and closed multiple union contracts/successor agreements and supplemental agreements, reaching ratification and Board-approval of multiple expired union contracts resulting in multi-year agreements and progressive contractual commitments, fostering a positive workplace culture and environment.

Cassandra Washington has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Davenport University in Human Resources Management. Cassandra also has an Administrator Certificate w/Central Office from MASA Horizon Leadership Academy in Human Resources Management. Finally, they have an Executive Masters of Business Administration (EMBA) from Davenport University in Management and Leadership.
