Leonard R. Raley

Vice Chancellor, Advancement at University System of Maryland

Leonard Raley is President and CEO of the University System of Maryland Foundation, Inc. (USMF), and is responsible for $2.2 billion in assets under management benefiting 11 institutions within the University System of Maryland (USM) and five Maryland community college foundations. Leonard works with the Foundation’s 47 directors toward ensuring the highest standards in governance and business practices. Leonard also serves as Vice Chancellor for Advancement for the USM and is responsible for providing leadership in support of USM’s fundraising efforts.

Leonard serves as Treasurer of the Maryland Marketing Partnership (MMP) Board of Directors. The MMP oversees Maryland’s Open for Business campaign, markets the state’s assets and encourages the location and growth of new businesses in Maryland. He is a member of the Association of Governing Board’s (AGB) Council of Foundation Leaders and past chair of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) National Committee for Institutionally Related Foundations. Leonard is also past board chair for both the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber, and his high school, St. Mary’s Ryken, located in Southern Maryland. He frequently contributes and speaks at conferences and events for AGB and CASE.

Leonard earned an MBA from the University of Baltimore and a BS in Business Administration (Finance and Personnel) from Towson University. He enjoys reading, traveling, walking, biking, and college sports.
