Do you have a knack in food products development? Would you like to know the nuts and bolts of formulating plant-based butters and creams?

Location: Wageningen, Netherlands

Start date: September 2024 (6 months)

About the position

We are looking for passionate and agile R&D interns to join our Global Product Development Team. We are looking for one intern in the Plant Butter Team, and one intern in the Creams Team, so please indicate your preference when applying!

Plant Butter Team

In the Plant Butter Team, you will be focusing on the recipe and processing design for plant butter. More specifically, you will be performing both pilot and kitchen trials, developing the recipe and processing design, and analyzing technical data, reporting conclusions and presenting to relevant stakeholders.

Creams Team

In the Creams Team, the main project you will be focusing on is improving the taste of plant-based creams. During this internship you will explore the effects of ingredients and texture on the release of flavours, mouthfeel and off-notes. You will conduct scoping of trial plan based on literature study and internal expert views paired with lab and pilot plant trials to produce trial samples. In the end, you will be responsible for the analyses of trial samples in laboratory and kitchen and drawing and presenting conclusions.

So what does it take to be successful in this role? 

  • You are a bachelor (HBO) or master student in Food Technology, Chemistry or similar.
  • You have a general understanding of food and/or plant-based product development. 
  • You have some understanding and affinity in taste; flavours, plant off-notes, mouthfeel etc. 
  • You have good analytical skills and competency in connecting experimental results to the content of literature.
