Karl Fendelander

Karl Fendelander has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Karl currently works as a Content Strategist at UPLIFT Desk, starting in June 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Lake Tahoe project manager for Project Baseline starting in August 2021.

From 2015 to 2022, Fendelander worked at the University of Nevada, Reno, where they held various positions. From January 2018 to May 2022, they served as the Editor in Chief of Nevada Today, overseeing editorial calendars and coordinating content production. Karl also held the role of Chief Content Strategist from November 2015 to January 2018, where they managed web support for multiple units and maintained content and standards across numerous web pages.

Before their time at the university, Fendelander owned and operated Smiling Eye Media from March 2012 to 2017. Karl also worked as the Owner/DBA. Karl then joined Biggest Little Group in October 2013 as the Content/Creative Director, where they played a variety of roles, including writing content, designing websites, and managing projects.

Fendelander also worked at CommRow as the Digital Media Manager from August 2011 to April 2012. In this role, they managed online content, including social media, for multiple properties. Additionally, they worked at QuinStreet as an Editorial Associate from December 2008 to September 2011, where they served as the content editor for the profitable website WorldWideLearn.com.

In 2009, Fendelander briefly owned and worked as a Writer at To Wit. Prior to that, they worked as a Substitute Teacher at Washoe County School District from May 2007 to November 2008.

Karl Fendelander began their education at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 2001, where they studied Electrical Engineering. Karl remained at the university until 2003 before transferring to the University of Nevada, Reno. At the University of Nevada, Reno, Karl pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing, completing their studies in 2006.
