Jaakko Virevesi

Jaakko Virevesi has extensive experience in the field of Information Technology and has held various leadership roles throughout their career. Jaakko is currently working as the Vice President, Business IT Services for Fibres, Energy, Plywood, Technology & Biorefining at UPM - The Biofore Company since November 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Vice President, Consulting Services at CGI from June 2021 to November 2022. From November 2017 to June 2021, they served as the Vice President, Group Information Technology at ANDRITZ, where they were responsible for global IT strategy and governance. Jaakko also held the role of Vice President, IT & Knowledge Management at ANDRITZ from April 2012 to November 2017, where they had global accountability for IT in the Pulp & Paper business area. Before their tenure at ANDRITZ, Jaakko worked at Accenture in various positions including IT Strategy Lead in Finland and Manager, IT Strategy & Transformation. Jaakko started their career as a Junior Consultant at Sandesa, where they gained experience in analyzing IT-enabled customer sales channels and creating RFI and RFP documents.

Jaakko Virevesi obtained a Bachelor's degree in International Business from Aalto University in 2001. Jaakko then pursued a Master of Science in Economics degree with a focus on Information Systems Science at Hanken School of Economics, which they completed in 2003. Additionally, in 2001, they participated in a University Exchange Program at DePaul University, where they focused on Business and IT.
