Whitney most recently worked at UpStart as the Managing Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice, where they played a vital role in developing and implementing the organization's DEIJ planning, tactics, and values. Whitney also served as the Managing Director of Talent and Equity, overseeing talent management strategies. Whitney Weathers, who identifies as she/her and is Black, has a diverse education history. Whitney obtained their Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in English Language and Literature, General from Nashville State Community College in 2007. Following that, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts - BA in English Language and Literature/Letters from Tennessee State University, completing it in 2009.
In 2013, Whitney enrolled at Vanderbilt University and pursued a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Urban Education and Leadership, which they completed in 2015. Subsequently, in 2017, they attended Relay Graduate School of Education, where they studied School Systems.
Whitney has also obtained several certifications to enhance their education qualifications. In 2006, they received their certification in History, Grades 7-12 from the State of Tennessee. In 2014, they obtained their certification in English, Grades 7-12 from the State of Tennessee as well. Whitney further expanded their expertise by acquiring a Principal's Licensure certification from the Colorado Department of Education in 2019.
