Emmanuel Roussel

Emmanuel Roussel has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Emmanuel is currently working as a Lead Engineer at Upstatement since October 2022. Prior to that, Emmanuel worked as a Freelance Frontend Developer, where they built the frontend of a project called tsunami using TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Radix UI, integrating with DFlow's blockchain SDK and collaborating with Upstatement on the design.

Emmanuel also served as a Technical Co-Founder at Berna from January 2020 to June 2022. During this time, they designed and built a progressive web app using React, GraphQL, Radix UI, and 8Base for clinics in Rwanda to manage medical records. Emmanuel also engaged with customers to gather feedback and ensure the delivery of a high-quality product.

Before that, Emmanuel worked as a Senior Software Engineer at 6 River Systems from April 2020 to October 2020. Their responsibilities included leading the development of a new TypeScript, React, and GraphQL web app using Polaris (the design component library from Shopify) to help customers manage their warehouses.

From September 2019 to March 2020, Emmanuel served as a Senior Software Engineer at Lola.com. In this role, they added internationalization to the React frontend codebase, mentored engineers, advised teams on feature implementation, and improved the runtime performance of a single-page app by 40%. Subsequently, Emmanuel took on the role of Tech Lead at Lola.com from January 2019 to September 2019, where they led a team of 6 software engineers and spearheaded a frontend guild meeting to ensure better alignment among different teams.

Emmanuel began their career as a Frontend Developer Intern at Gomae | Find Vegan in 2017 and later worked as a Full Stack Developer Intern at Gordon College from September 2016 to December 2016. Emmanuel also gained experience as a Programmer Analyst Intern at Revenu Québec from May 2016 to August 2016, where they contributed to projects in C# and .NET, improving user experience, adding features, and optimizing application performance.
