Amber Akemi Piatt

Amber Akemi Piatt, MPH, currently serves as Managing Director, Acting Operations Director, and Acting Executive Director at Upturn since May 2023. Previously, Amber held the position of Health Instead of Punishment Program Director at Human Impact Partners from November 2018 to May 2023. Additional experience includes roles as Program Associate at PolicyLink, Women's Policy Institute – State Reproductive Justice Fellow at The Women's Foundation of California, and Project Manager at UC Berkeley School of Public Health. Amber's consultancy work includes positions at East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation and The California Endowment. Earlier positions include direction of the Women of Color Initiative at UC Berkeley Graduate Assembly, an internship at California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, and a research role at UCLA Child and Adolescent Mood Disorders Program. Amber earned a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in Health & Social Behavior from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology and Spanish from UCLA.
