Mike Wetzel

VP & Practice Leader for Bridges at Urban Engineers

A Vice President and Practice Leader, Michael P. Wetzel, PE, leads the firm’s bridge practice.

With over 25 years of experience, Mike has led the design of numerous new bridge structures, rehabilitations and/or replacements of existing bridge structures, in addition to in-depth inspections of existing bridge structures. He has extensive experience in designing earth retaining structures, soundbarriers, and sign structures. Most recently, he was the Chief Bridge Engineer responsible for the design of the $23 million new SR 422 bridge crossing over the Schuylkill River, in Philadlephia. This structure provides smoother travel for 83,000 daily commuters.

Outside of the office, Mike enjoys traveling with family, skiing, and attending Eagles games.

A Certified Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Maryland, Mike earned his MBA and bachelor’s in civil engineering from Drexel University. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE).
