Kimberly Perry has a diverse work experience in the field of agriculture and food access. Kimberly started their career as the President/Owner of Healthy Habits Coop/Healthy Habits, where they successfully managed the organization's growth and operations. During their tenure, the coop grew from 2 families to more than 300 families. Kimberly was also responsible for organizing a team of volunteers, selecting board members, and managing the organization's finances. In addition, they maintained websites and social media properties for the coop.
After their role at Healthy Habits, Kimberly worked as a Program Assistant at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, specializing in teaching adults in underserved communities about adding nutritious food choices to their diets through the Better Living for Texans Program (BLT).
Following this, Kimberly became an Agriculture & Natural Resource Agent for Cooperative Extension at Prairie View A&M University. In this role, they provided assistance and conducted workshops for individuals and communities interested in gardening. Kimberly focused on projects such as school vegetable gardens, church gardens, community gardens, and backyard gardens in Harris County.
Currently, Kimberly holds the position of Director of Food Access at Urban Harvest. The organization's mission is to cultivate thriving communities through gardening and access to healthy, local food.
Kimberly Perry has a Master's degree in Agriculture, General from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Kimberly received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1999. Kimberly also holds a certification as a Master Gardener from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, which they obtained from 2013 to 2020. In addition, they briefly attended Colorado Mesa University in 1994-1995, although it is not specified whether they completed a degree or field of study during that period.
