Susan Burden

Susan Burden is a highly experienced Senior Science Advisor at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with a tenure from June 2020 to August 2024. In this role, Susan undertakes significant projects for the Office of Research and Development (ORD) and provides expert guidance on environmental regulations, policy, and science. Susan served as the PFAS Executive Lead, representing ORD on the EPA's Council on PFAS and leading efforts to communicate PFAS science to various stakeholders. Previously, as a Scientific Support Advisor, Susan provided consultation on scientific and technical issues and contributed to maintaining scientific integrity within the agency. Susan earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Chemistry from Carroll University.
