Scott C. Ratzan

Scott C. Ratzan has a long and distinguished career in health communication. Scott C. has been Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Health Communication: International Perspectives since 1995, and is the founding editor of over 200 issues. In 2020, they became a Distinguished Lecturer at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy, teaching Multisectoral Engagement for Sustainable Health, leading the CONVINCE USA(sm) Initiative, and co-leading the Health Communication for Social Change Master's Program. Scott C. is also Executive Director of Business Partners for Sustainable Development & Business Partners to CONVINCE at USCIB-United States Council for International Business. In 2019, they became Principal of the Institute for the Advancement of Health & Well-being, LLC, providing consulting with strategic communication, policy advice and advocacy, training and education. Scott C. has been Adjunct Professor in the Dept. of Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health since 2012, and Adjunct Clinical Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine since 1996, where they founded and directed the Masters Program in Health Communication. Scott C. is a Member of the Board on Global Health at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine since 2018, an Advisory Board Member at RAND Health since 2013, and an Associate Professorial Lecturer in Global Health at The George Washington University- Milken Institute School of Public Health since 1998. Scott C. is also a Board Member at World Information Transfer since 2008.

Scott C. Ratzan began their educational journey in 1980, graduating from Occidental College with an A.B in Rhetoric/Political Communication in 1983. Scott C. then attended Emerson College, earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communication in 1986. Following this, Ratzan attended the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where they earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1988. Ratzan then returned to Harvard Kennedy School, where they earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in 1987 and a Senior Fellow from the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Busiess & Government in 2019.
