Harvard's Belfer Center
Fran Ulmer is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in environmental policy, education, and governance. Currently serving as a Visiting Senior Fellow at Harvard's Belfer Center, Ulmer has held significant positions such as Chairman of the Board for The Nature Conservancy and Chair of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission. Additional roles include Board Member for the National Parks Conservation Association and a Cox Visiting Professor at Stanford University. Ulmer also contributed to Arctic science and policy as an Advisor with the U.S. Department of State and served as Chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage. Prior leadership experience includes a tenure as Lieutenant Governor and Legislator for the State of Alaska, as well as Director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research. Ulmer holds a Doctor of Law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
