Adjunct Faculty at USPHS Commissioned Corps

Calvin W. Edwards is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in public health and safety, currently serving as a Supervisory Investigator and Captain in the USPHS Commissioned Corps at the FDA since 1996. Edwards manages an FDA field office focused on GMP inspections and oversees the inspection of biological products in the Philadelphia District. With a background in low-acid, acidified, and aseptic food engineering, Edwards has held roles as an adjunct faculty member for the PHS Officer Basic and Midlevel Courses, and served as an Officer in Charge during the Ebola response in Liberia. Prior to the FDA, Edwards worked as a Nuclear Engineer/Health Physicist for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and held various military positions, including as an Environmental Science Officer in the Army National Guard and a Master Engineering Laboratory Technician in the US Navy. Edwards holds multiple degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and other institutions, focusing on organizational dynamics, leadership, safety science, and radiation protection.
