Research Director Cardiology at UT Health East Texas

Kevin Thornton has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Kevin started their career in 1996 at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, where they worked as a LVN Staff Nurse and later transitioned to the role of Clinical Research Coordinator. In 2001, they joined Wood Memorial Nursing Home as an LVN Charge Nurse. From 2004 to 2010, they served as a Clinical Research Coordinator at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. Kevin then worked at Tyler Cardiovascular Consultants from 2010 to 2014, initially as a Clinical Research Coordinator and later as an Assistant Director Research Cardiology. Since 2014, Kevin has been working at UT Health East Texas, first as an Assistant Director Research Cardiology and currently as the Research Director Cardiology.

Kevin Thornton has a Vocational Nursing Certification from Tyler Junior College in the field of Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training. Kevin also obtained a Licensed Vocational Nurse certification from the Texas Board of Nursing in 1996 and a CCRC certification from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
