Paul Johnson

Paul Johnson is a seasoned academic and researcher with extensive experience in turfgrass management, plant genetics, and plant ecology. Currently serving as the Department Head and Professor at Utah State University since 1998, Paul has contributed significantly to both research and teaching. Previously, Paul held positions as a Postdoctoral Associate and Research Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, focusing on plant genetics and turfgrass research. Paul’s academic journey began at the University of Minnesota, where a graduate program concentrated on the genetics and physiology of Poa annua took place. Earlier career experience includes working as an Assistant Superintendent at Oak Hills Country Club. Paul earned a PhD in Horticulture with a specialization in Plant Genetics from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, emphasizing Turfgrass Management, from Iowa State University.
