Andrea Baena

Director Of Urban Design And Planning at Utile

Andrea Baena has a diverse and extensive work experience. Andrea started their career at CMD Ingenieros as a Business Development Executive from November 2012 to December 2013. Andrea then worked as a Design Collaborator at Contexto Urbano from January 2014 to August 2014. After that, they joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they held positions as Latinx Co-Leader from August 2017 to August 2018, and as a PKG Fellow from January 2018 onwards. In 2018, Andrea became the Housing and Territory Director at AlCentro, a position they held until January 2022. Additionally, they worked as an Innovation and Development Director at Contexto Urbano from April 2019 to November 2020. Andrea also served as a Visiting Lecturer at Universidad de Los Andes from December 2019 to April 2022. Currently, they are working at Utile as an Urban Designer since November 2020 and has been promoted to Director of Urban Design and Planning from January 2023.

Andrea Baena completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes, starting in 2007 and finishing in 2012. After that, they pursued a Master of Architecture degree (MArch) at SCI-Arc from 2014 to 2016, but they transferred to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to complete their Master of Architecture. Andrea enrolled in MIT in 2016 and graduated in 2019. Andrea'sfield of study throughout their education has been Architecture.
