Thomas S.

Thomas S. has a diverse work experience spanning over several organizations and roles. Currently, they serve as the Associate Vice President for Research Operations at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Prior to this, they held the position of Interim Executive Vice President for Research at the same university.

Before joining The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Thomas worked as a Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University's Krieger School of Arts & Sciences, specifically in the Advanced Academic Programs. Here, they focused on research administration, examining how the research enterprise is organized and led.

Thomas also served as an Advisory Board Member for DEEP VELLUM PUBLISHING, contributing their expertise to the organization. In addition, they worked at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where they held various positions including Assistant Professor, Assistant Vice President for IR Operations & Compliance, Director of the Research Software Core, Director of Operations for Academic and Administrative Information Resources, Manager of Operations, and Business Analyst.

Furthermore, Thomas worked as a Lecturer at the University of Texas at Dallas in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, where they taught courses related to Public Affairs and Sociology. Additionally, they worked in customer care at The Kessler Theater and held the role of Technical Lead Programmer at Vectrix Co, where they worked on major projects such as Fandango.com and W3cd.com.

Thomas S. received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (BAIS) with a focus on Computer/Information Technology Administration and Management from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2002. Thomas then pursued an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas, completing it in 2008. Thomas went on to complete a residency in Executive Management at Grenoble Ecole de Management. In 2012, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Affairs from The University of Texas at Dallas. Thomas also participated in a Summer Case Study on Healthcare Policy in South Korea at the University of Seoul. Additionally, Thomas has obtained various certifications, including Artificial Intelligence and Business Strategy from LinkedIn, CRC Advanced and Human Subjects Research from the CITI Program, and Group on Information Resources (GIR) Fellow from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Thomas also holds a Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) certification from Prosci and an ITIL Foundation in IT Service Management certification from PeopleCert.
