Daniel Whettam is a Machine Learning Engineer at Vaarst since June 2024. Previously, Daniel completed a PhD at the University of Bristol, focusing on self-supervised, multi-modal computer vision and deep learning, under the supervision of Professor Dima Damen. Daniel has also served as a Teaching Assistant at Bristol, where coursework for Applied Deep Learning was developed. Additional experience includes work as an AI Research Engineer at Imagination Technologies, visiting research at Columbia University in the City of New York, and a research assistant role at STFC, where techniques for improving speech recognition were explored. Prior roles include a laboratory demonstrator at the University of Hull and a student intern at Hitachi Consulting. Daniel holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Interactive Artificial Intelligence, a Master of Science in Data Science from the University of Edinburgh, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Hull.
