Balaji Viswanathan has had an extensive career in engineering. In 2014, they began working at the Physical Research Laboratory as a Project Associate. The following year, they worked at Alpha drives/ Government College of Technology on the Design and Validation of Gerotor pump for Power take off unit in Automobiles. In 2017, they began working as a Graduate Student Researcher at ISAE-SUPAERO, where they were responsible for CubeSat NIMPH: Payload reliability and Robustness analysis. This included selecting a possible cubesat configuration to meet the mission requirements, calculating the radiation dose on the cubesat, performing thermal analysis, and analyzing the temperature within the operating temperature. Balaji was also selected for an Oral presentation at The International Astronautical Conference (IAC) Bremen 2018. In 2018, they worked as an Intern at Observatoire de Paris. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as a Customer Support Engineer - SEEE4(Interim) at Airbus, and is currently working as a Customer Success Engineer at Valispace.

Balaji Viswanathan received their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore between 2011 and 2015. Balaji then went on to complete their Master of Science (MS) in Aerospace Engineering from ISAE-SUPAERO between 2016 and 2018. Balaji also obtained the ASEP certification from INCOSE in December 2022.
