Mingyou Sung

Mingyou Sung has previous work experience as an NLP Engineer at Valital Technologies starting in 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Concordia University as a Research Assistant from June 2020 to April 2022. They also held a Teaching Assistant position from September 2020 to December 2020 at the same university. At Concordia, they focused on developing NLP systems for relation extraction tasks and participated in various research projects including SemEval-2010 Task 8, TACRED, Re-TACRED, and Biocreative VII Track 1. They completed their Master's thesis on diverse input representations and classifiers for relation extraction.

Before working at Concordia, Mingyou served as a Research Assistant at Hongik University from March 2018 to March 2019. In this role, they worked on developing an Automatic Similar Product Identification System and gained experience in product representation using TF-IDF, N-gram, and Word2Vec. They also acquired technical skills in Scikit-Learn, Gensim, NLTK, Python, and git.

Prior to their research assistant positions, Mingyou worked at Hongik University as a Student Staff from March 2016 to December 2017.

Additionally, Mingyou has previous military experience as a Sergeant and Senior KATUSA and Tank Crew member in the Republic of Korea Army from May 2014 to February 2016. In this role, they demonstrated leadership, integrity, and respect while carrying out their military duties and managing KATUSA soldiers. They received the KATUSA Award from the Republic of Korea Army.

Mingyou Sung pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Hongik University between 2011 and 2019. Later, from 2019 to 2022, Mingyou Sung completed a Master's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Computational Linguistics at Concordia University.
