Dr. Pancioli completed his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan in 1987, receiving a degree in computer science. He continued at the University of Michigan, receiving his MD in 1991. He attended the emergency medicine residency training program at the University of Cincinnati where he served as Chief Resident during his 4th year, graduating in 1995.
Dr. Pancioli joined the faculty as the Associate Residency Director and Assistant Professor. He subsequently assumed the role of Vice-Chairman in 2000. He current serves as the Richard C. Levy Professor of Emergency Medicine and Chairman of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Pancioli’s primary research is in the arena of acute ischemic stroke therapy. He is currently the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on ten grants and contracts, with national and corporate sponsors including the National Institute of Health, the Neurological Institute, and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. His Principal Investigator grants include the Neurological Emergencies Treatment Trials (NETT) Network-Cincinnati Hub, SPOTRIAS Project-the CLEAR Trial, and Current Emergency Department Management of TIA. Dr. Pancioli has been a member of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Stroke Team since 1995.
