Marije Vellekoop

Senior Manager, Collection at Van Gogh Museum

Marije Vellekoop studied Art History at the University of Utrecht and has been working at the Van Gogh Museum since 1995, from 1999 as Curator of Prints and Drawings.

Since 2013 she has headed the Collection & Research department. As head of department, she is responsible for important core activities of the Van Gogh Museum and The Mesdag Collection, such as the presentation and expansion of the permanent collection, loans, authenticity research and the research programme. The concept development of exhibitions also takes place within her department.

In her new role as Senior Manager Collection, she will be responsible from 1 December 2020 for the Collection & Research, Collection Management & Restoration, Registrar's Office and Collection Information departments. Vellekoop will also retain her position as manager of the Collection & Research department.
