Colin Putney

Colin Putney has extensive work experience in the field of technology and software engineering. Colin started their career at Quallaby in 2004 as a Software Engineer before moving on to Micromuse in 2005 and Smallthought Systems from 2006 to 2008, both as a Software Engineer. Colin then joined Deep Cove Labs as a Software Engineer from 2008 to 2010.

In 2010, Colin joined Hartshorne Software as a Software Engineer, where they were responsible for migrating and rebuilding the website instantdomainsearch.com on AWS, improving performance and resilience. Colin used analytics to optimize revenue during their tenure.

From 2013 to 2017, Colin worked as the Chief Technology Officer at BetterCompany, where they hired and managed a team of developers and built mobile social networking applications and enterprise recruiting applications.

In 2018, Colin joined TalentShare as a Principal Engineer, where they created data-processing architecture, designed and implemented a recommender system, and developed a job scheduling system for machine-learning workflows.

From 2018 to 2021, Colin worked at Digit.co as an ML Engineer, using machine learning and behavioral psychology to build personalization technology for financial health.

Colin then joined Descartes Labs in 2021 as a Machine Learning Engineer, where they worked until 2023.

Currently, Colin is working at Vannevar Labs as a Machine Learning Engineer, starting in 2023.

Colin Putney completed their Bachelor of Journalism degree in Magazine Writing at Ryerson University from 1994 to 1998.
