Lana Sheta

Lana Sheta has a diverse work experience in the field of genomics. Lana is currently working at Variantyx as the Director of Clinical Genomics, a role they started in May 2023. Prior to that, they served as a Clinical Genomic Variant Scientist and Team Lead at Variantyx from July 2021 to May 2023.

Before joining Variantyx, Lana worked at Washington University in St. Louis as a Cancer Variant Scientist at Clinical Interpretations of Variants in Cancer (CIViC) Knowledgebase. Lana'sresponsibilities included curating and editing around 1000 pieces of variant-disease evidence from published literature. Lana also created and published standard operating procedures for variant interpretation and refinement. Lana held this position from June 2018 to May 2023.

In addition, Lana Sheta has experience as a Lab Manager at Parchman Population Genomics laboratory. In this role, they were responsible for performing accounting tasks for $1.2M in grants and identifying and resolving discrepancies totaling over $10,000. Lana held this position from June 2019 to July 2020.

Lana Sheta attended the University of Nevada, Reno from 2016 to 2019, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, as well as Analytical Chemistry.
