Noam Shomron

Co-Founder and Scientific Advisor at Variantyx

Noam Shomron has extensive work experience in the field of genomics and genetics. Noam started their career as a Professor at Tel Aviv University in 2008, where their research team focuses on analyzing genomics to understand human diseases. They use high-throughput methods and bioinformatics techniques such as AI and deep learning to study DNA changes and gene regulators. Noam also co-founded and managed the Functional Genomics Laboratory at Tel Aviv University.

In 2012, Noam co-founded GotSho, a company that develops software and applications for the medical, genetics, and biological industry. Noam also founded and directed the Rare Genomics Institute Israel, which supports local Israeli patients with rare genetic diseases.

In 2014, Noam co-founded Variantyx, a company that offers clinical-grade genome analysis services to physicians and hospitals worldwide. Noam also co-founded IdentifAI Genetics in 2021, which provides non-invasive fetal genome examinations through a blood test from the mother-to-be.

Noam's work in the field of genetics extends to their involvement as a member of Israel's Helsinki Committee for Human Medical Research and Trials in Genetics. Noam also serves as a Major in the Genetics Laboratory of the Israel Defense Forces, where they run forensic tests and develops novel protocols in extreme scenarios.

Additionally, Noam has held roles as the Director of the Djerassi Institute of Oncology, where they promote collaboration between cancer researchers and physicians to advance cancer diagnosis, prevention, and treatments. Noam also acts as a High School Extracurricular Lecturer, giving monthly lectures on biotechnology and advising on the establishment of new science programs.

In 2023, Noam will be co-founding Everly Bio, where they will serve as the Chief Scientific Officer. Overall, Noam Shomron's work has focused on utilizing genomics and bioinformatics to understand human diseases, develop genetic analysis services, and support patients with rare genetic diseases.

Noam Shomron's education history includes:
