Vast is looking for a Paralegal/ Legal Assistant, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, to provide comprehensive legal support to a dynamic and multi-disciplinary legal team. We are seeking a proactive team member with exceptional organization skills and attention to detail, and agility to support various matters while working autonomously. Key responsibilities include broad legal administration support, knowledge management, legal document review and drafting, and support on ad hoc special projects. 

This will be a full-time, exempt position located at our Long Beach, CA facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and redline documents, to include NDAs, vendor contracts, letters, and memorandums
  • Serve as internal/external interface on NDAs and other legal documents and matters
  • Coordinate electronic signatures and maintain contract records and filings
  • Improve processes and efficiency within the Legal Team’s organizational structure
  • Implement and monitor intake workflows and tools daily to ensure prompt and seamless daily operations for the Legal Team
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve centralized resources and tools for internal stakeholders, with eye for accuracy and efficiency 
  • Work cross-functionally including with Procurement, Business Development, Engineering, People, and Finance
  • Support and manage various ad hoc projects within the team as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years working as a paralegal or equivalent in a law firm or legal department.
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field or Paralegal Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and principles.
  • Proficiency in conducting legal research including online databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (G Suite), Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • In-house or law firm experience working with defense and/or start-ups.
  • Familiarity with Slack, Confluence, Jira, SmartSheets, and Lucid. 

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel occasionally, domestically and internationally
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones

$57,400$121,600 USD
