Achuta Kadambi started their career as a Research Assistant at MIT Media Lab in September 2012 and worked there until May 2018. In July 2018, they became an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. At the same time, they also became the Leader of the Visual Machines Group. In 2019, they co-founded Akasha Imaging, a startup backed by Khosla Ventures that developed an imaging system for robots. However, Akasha Imaging was acquired and is now part of Alphabet. In October 2021, Achuta Kadambi co-founded Vayu Robotics, another startup backed by Khosla Ventures, where they are developing a computational imaging stack for vehicle autonomy. In May 2022, they joined Intrinsic as a Research Scientist.
Achuta Kadambi received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The degree was in MIT Media Lab and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with a focus on an interdepartmental doctorate program.
