Gereon Meyer has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Gereon currently serves as the Head of Department European and International Business Development at VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH since June 2020. Prior to this, they held the position of Deputy Head of Department Future Mobility and Europe at the same company from 2007 to 2020. In this role, they were responsible for various research and consultancy services, R&I funding programs, and strategic projects related to automotive and transport technologies. Gereon Meyer has also worked as a Research Associate at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, a Visiting Scientist at Hitachi Global Storage Technology and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and a Research Assistant at Freie Universität Berlin. Throughout their career, they have been involved in several international collaborations, publications, and conference presentations related to their field of expertise.

Gereon Meyer obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from Freie Universität Berlin, with a duration from 1998 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their Diplom-Physiker in Physics from the same institution, from 1993 to 1998. Additionally, they possess a Certificate in Cities: Governance, Planning, and Design from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), obtained in 2022, and a Certificate in Leadership from Universität St.Gallen (HSG), obtained in 2017.
