Data Scientist at Velory

Yevgen Pogoryelov has worked in a variety of roles since 2001. Yevgen began their career as a Junior Research Scientist and Principal Engineer at the Institute of Magnetism (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) from 2001 to 2004. Yevgen then moved to the Toyota Technological Institute, where they worked as a Research Associate and PostDoctoral Fellow from 2004 to 2008. Yevgen then returned to the Institute of Magnetism (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) in 2008 as a Research Associate. In 2009, they moved to KTH Royal Institute of Technology as a postdoc, and then to the University of Gothenburg in 2011 as a Principal Research Engineer. From 2013 to 2020, they worked as a Researcher at Uppsala University. Most recently, they have been a Data Scientist at Velory, where they have led projects with a focus on Data Analysis within the Operations and Analytics team. Yevgen has set up a cloud data warehouse based on Google Cloud Platform, worked with SQL, programmed in Python, applied Machine Learning for text classification of customer support tickets from Zendesk, and mentored Junior Data Scientists and Data Analysts.

Yevgen Pogoryelov began their educational history at School 51 from 1981 to 1992. Yevgen then attended Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv from 1992 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics. Yevgen continued their studies at the same university from 1996 to 1998, earning a Master of Science in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics. Yevgen then attended the Institute of Magnetism, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine from 1998 to 2004, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Solid State Physics. In 2019, Yevgen Pogoryelov began taking courses from Coursera, earning certifications in Data Science Orientation, Open Source Tools for Data Science, Data Science Methodology, Python for Data Science and AI, Databases and SQL for Data Science, Data Visualization with Python, Data Analysis with Python, and Applied Data Science Capstone. In 2022, they will complete additional certifications in Machine Learning Specialization, Unsupervised Learning, Recommenders, Reinforcement Learning, and Advanced Learning Algorithms.
