Maria Douglas has a diverse work experience in coding compliance, physician education, and risk management. Maria is currently working as the Director of Coding Compliance and Physician Education at Ventra Health. Prior to this, they served as the Executive Director of Coding Education and Compliance at MedData, where they oversaw the MedData MIPS Data Registry and provided expertise on coding standards and practices. Maria also worked as the Director of Coding Quality Improvement and Education at Brault, where they developed policies, performed audits, and identified process improvement opportunities. Maria began their career at 4M Emergency Systems and held various positions, including Director of Coding and Documentation Improvement Specialist, Manager of Physician Support Office, and Risk Management Department. Maria has extensive experience in managing coding teams, responding to audits, providing documentation training, and creating risk management protocols.

Maria Douglas obtained their CPC degree in Coding from Bryant and Stratton in 2002. Maria also holds additional certifications such as Officer of Healthcare Compliance (OHCC) from the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) in 2014, as well as being a Certified Emergency Department Coder (CEDC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), and Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), all obtained from the AAPC.
