Keenan Covington

Director, Marketing at Venture For America

Keenan’s first run in with entrepreneurship was working – as a janitor, cashier and stock boy – in his grandfather’s haircare store in Flint, Michigan. His eventual winding career path took him from an environmental nonprofit to leading day-to-day marketing efforts at Crain’s Detroit Business, a weekly business publication. During this time, he also served as the co-director of outreach for Detroit Homecoming, an initiative that brings influential ex-Detroiters back home to reinvest in their hometown.

He’s a graduate of Michigan State University, and aside from a two-year stint in New York City for graduate school and six-month foreign exchange in an Austrian village, Keenan prides himself on being a Detroiter through and through. He spends his free time watching anime, getting into roundabout arguments about sports, attending concerts and dispelling myths that the best Coney Island restaurants in Detroit are Lafayette and American.
