Wendell Ewing

Wendell Ewing is the Director of Commissioning at Verdical Group. Wendell has over 10 years of experience in energy engineering and project management.

Wendell started their career as a Senior Project Engineer at CenTrio Energy, where they managed day-to-day operation of central plants located in Los Angeles. Wendell then transitioned to Verdical Group, where they became the Director of Commissioning. In this role, Wendell provides building commissioning services to ensure clients adhere to commissioning obligations for construction, CALGreen Code and Title 24 requirements in the State of California as well as local building codes.

Most recently, Wendell contracted with the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Clean Energy Project Manager. In this role, Wendell was responsible for assisting with Proposition 39 expenditure plan development and submittal of individual project application submittals to the California Energy Commission, coordinating and ensuring that contracted design firms, contractors, and energy service companies comply with all Prop 39 guidelines and requirements for other applicable and available utility incentive programs, providing work flow forecasting one year in advance based on LAUSD's Proposition 39 expenditure planning process with the California Energy Commission, work plans, progress tracking, and results-reporting for all Proposition 39-funded efficiency projects and applicable and available incentives, and advising, consulting with, and giving technical direction to energy service companies on District policies, guidelines and specifications for development of project costs related to the Investment Grade Audit.

Wendell Ewing has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago. Wendell also has certifications from the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) in Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) and from the California Board of Professional Engineers in Professional Engineer (PE). Finally, they have a certification from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in Professional Engineer.

Wendell Ewing reports to Drew Shula, Founder & CEO. They work with Ritika Dhamija - Project Manager & Energy Analyst, Chelsea Brandom - Partnerships & Events Manager, and Mahnaz Garcia - Director of Accounting.
