Laurin Heinrich

Senior Scientist, Drug Discovery at Verge Genomics

Laurin Heinrich, Ph.D., is a Scientist II at Verge Genomics since February 2023, focusing on the development of complex iPSC-derived disease models and assays, target validation, mechanistic studies, and high throughput compound screening while leading both internal and external collaborations. Previously, Laurin served as a Biomedical Research Scientist at Stanford University, developing human iPSC-derived neuronal model systems to investigate severe diseases like Parkinson's through advanced techniques such as CRISPR screening and electrophysiology. Experience also includes a role as a Research Scientist at VIB, collaborating with imec and Stanford University to create neuronal microcircuits on a CMOS-MEA Chip for drug screening applications. As a research associate and PhD student at the Institute of Developmental Biology and Neurobiology, Laurin independently conducted scientific projects, supervised students, and participated in conferences. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Neuroscience, a Master of Science in Biology, and a Bachelor of Science in Biosciences, alongside certifications in project management and good clinical and manufacturing practices.
