Marios Simou

Marios Simou started their work experience in 2011 as a Sergeant in the Cyprus National Guard, where they maintained the balance for a platoon of 20 people and reported the platoon's daily condition. In 2015, they worked as a Student Trainee at MDS Marathon Data and Systems, where they received training in ArcGIS and analyzed and edited spatial data. In 2016, they interned as a GIS specialist at Geomatics Technologies, where they gained experience in PostgreSQL, Geoserver, ArcGIS, and QGIS.

In 2018, Marios joined MasterControl as a Technical Specialist until 2019. Then, they worked at Qmee as a Software Engineer, where they developed and maintained a React-based admin user-interface and implemented API services using REST and GraphQL design patterns.

From 2019 to 2022, Marios worked at Sky as a Software Developer, where they maintained and introduced new features related to their team's domain using Next.js and Redux.

In 2022, Marios joined Versa Networks as a Software Engineer.

Marios Simou has a Bachelor's degree in Surveying Engineering and Geoinformatics from Cyprus University of Technology, which they obtained from 2013 to 2017. Marios then pursued a Master's degree in Spatio-temporal Analytics and Big Data Mining from UCL, where they studied from 2017 to 2018.

In addition to their formal education, Marios has obtained several certifications. These include completing the "Advanced React Patterns" course by Kent C. Dodds at GitNation in November 2021, the "Innovate AI/ML Edition" course at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in March 2021, and the "Advanced Node.js" course on LinkedIn in May 2019. Marios has also earned certifications in various topics such as Ruby, Git and GitHub, SSL Certificates, React, Semantic UI, and Ubuntu Desktop, all obtained in 2019. Furthermore, Marios has participated in the AWS Dev Day - Modern Application Development, Go from zero to hero in Python 3, HTML/CSS Bootcamp, Master SQL for Data Science, Modern React with Redux, The Complete Developer's Guide (Golang) online course, The Modern GraphQL Bootcamp (with Node.js and Apollo), and the Web Developer Bootcamp Online Course.
