Kathleen Aertgeerts

Kathleen Aertgeerts is an accomplished executive in the field of biology, currently serving as Executive Director at Vertex Pharmaceuticals since May 2018, after previously holding the position of Senior Director of Structural Biology and Protein Sciences. Prior to Vertex, Kathleen was Senior Director of Structural Biology at Dart NeuroScience LLC, where responsibilities included building and leading a 26-member department focused on various aspects of Structural Biology. Kathleen also held the role of Director of Structural Biology at Takeda, leading teams to deliver protein crystal structures across multiple regions, and served as Principal Scientist at SYRRX, contributing to the development of NESINA for type 2 diabetes treatment. Academic credentials include a postdoctoral degree in biochemistry from Scripps Research and a Ph.D. in Protein Crystallography from KU Leuven, complemented by a PharmD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same institution.
