Luis Maranga

Luis Maranga, PhD, currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Biopharmaceutical Sciences for Cell and Genetic Therapies at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, leading a team of over 650 in all cell and genetic therapies CMC functions from post-discovery to commercialization. Previously, Luis held significant roles at Sanofi, including SVP & Global Head of MSAT, overseeing a global team of over 400, and contributed as a member of the MIT LGO Governing Board and the SAB of CaraVan Biologix. With extensive experience in biologics development at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Novartis, and other prominent companies, Luis has a strong background in technical operations, manufacturing, and process development. Luis earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a bachelor's and master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico.
