Jo Kristian Bergum

Jo Kristian Bergum currently serves as Chief Scientist at Vespa.ai, starting in October 2023. Prior to this role, Bergum spent over 16 years at Yahoo, holding positions such as Distinguished Engineer and Principal Software Engineer, where contributions included customer engagements and the implementation of search solutions on the Yahoo! Internal Search Platform, known as VESPA. Additional experience includes positions as Senior Principal Software Engineer and Distinguished Engineer at Verizon Media, as well as Senior Principal Engineer at Oath. Earlier career endeavors involved serving as Senior Solutions Engineer at Fast Search & Transfer, where responsibilities included leading technical deployments of FAST ESP in the EMEA region. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Computing Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and participation in an exchange program focused on information retrieval at the University of Glasgow.
